2nd Annual Symposium on Active Rehabilitation for people with Spinal Cord Injury

Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC) is pleased to invite rehabilitation professionals to participate in the “2nd Annual Symposium on Active Rehabilitation for people with Spinal Cord Injury 2008”. Active Rehabilitation (AR) is grassroots transfer of practical life and social skills from experienced, active wheelchair users to newly disabled and/or less empowered wheelchair users in their communities. Active Rehabilitation results in improved quality of life through promotion of health, self-confidence, mobility, rights and independence. AR is especially needed in those countries where people with spinal cord injury (SCI) have limited access to rehabilitation as well as education or vocational training after the injury.

The target audience will be all the rehab professionals such as Occupational and Physical therapists, Assistive Technologists, Special Educators, Social Workers, and all the Rehab services providers. The symposium will be a great opportunity for the upcoming professionals to learn about the recent advance techniques.

The symposium will be held on Oct. 24th, 2008 for professionals and Active Rehabilitation Camp would be held on October 25th only for wheelchair users.

Registration is currently open for professionals up to October 20th, 2008. The registration fee including hands of workshop is Rs. 500 by cash only. Participants will be provided certificate of participation, registration kit and lunch coupons. For wheelchair users its free.

We look forward to see you on October 24th, 2008. For further details please contact Mr. Nekram Upadhyay at 011-4225 5377, email: assistivetech@isiconline.org or visit at http://www.isiconline.org/
